Reeling & Healing - NIFTy Donates 50 Dozen Flies

On January 25th members of NIFTy tied flies that will be donated to Cathy Sero's Midwest Reeling and Healing fly fishing retreat program. The plan was to have each member tie and donate one dozen or more flies. NIFTy provided Lou Malnati's pizza and soft drinks at the meeting so members would have extra energy to tie lots of really good flies.

Here is the list of fly patterns that were needed by Reeling and Healing.
Select one and tie a dozen of them.
Soft Hackle, orange, in sizes 14 or 16
Soft Hackle, green, on sizes 14 or 16
Elk Hair Caddis in sizes 16 and 18
Blue Wing Olives in sizes 18 and 20
Isonychia in sizes 10, 12 and 14
Light Cahills in sizes 14 and 16
Patriots and Purple Patriots in sizes 14, 16 and 18
Pheasant Tails in sizes 14, 16 and 18
Royal Wulffs in sizes 14, 16 and 18
Hoppers in assorted sizes and colors

Members to provided their own materials and hooks for these patterns, because assembling materials and hooks for all these patterns would be a challenge.

For your information, Reeling and Healing offers fly-fishing retreats for women diagnosed with or surviving breast cancer, as well as retreats designed for women diagnosed with or surviving other cancers. These programs are offered at very little cost to the participants. So, our donation is needed to help support this terrific program. Here is a link to the Reeling and Healing website that provides lots of information on it. Click here.

The end result was over 50 dozen donated flies!!!
