DuPage River Smallie Slam Fest!

Northern Illinois Fly Tyers Jim Gould and Mark LoVerde hooked up Sunday for some Smallmouth Bass action. They started out early scouting out Mazon River in Mazon Illinois. It was clouded up from overnight rain. Jim mentioned a section of the DuPage River he had seen on his way deer hunting last fall that looked promising. After fly fishing this section and talking to residence, they  came to realize it's a section that many people have never wet a line. The water was crystal clear and you could see 3-4' down. You could not design a better stretch of river. Jim was baffled that all the fly fishing he has done in Illinois that he has not heard of or discovered this stretch of the DuPage River. Mark and Jim have sworn to secrecy regarding its location.

Sunday's fishing was so good they decided to hit the same section again at sun rise on Labor Day, but drop a car and extend it by 1/3 mile. It was an amazing 6 hour wade! They only took pics of the hogs. Mark is in pictures and Jim's fish are on ground with rod.
