Winter Smallies

NIFTY members Jim Gould and Mark LoVerde couldn't wait to wet a line when the Chicago weather was approaching 45 degrees and water temp was still very cold. Since the water was so cold and well before pre-spawn temps of 55 degrees, it would be tough to find fish. They decided to try the only open water which was the East Branch of the DuPage River. It took about an hour to find out where the Smallies were hunkered down. Jim was able to pull this nice Smallie up for a quick picture.
