Upper
Midwest Council Announcement
The Upper Midwest Council of the
International Federation of Fly Fishers was formed in March of 2012 out of the
previous Great Rivers Council. The newly formed council is comprised of
International Federation of Fly Fishers clubs in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and
Northern Illinois. Since March, a Board of Directors has been formed and
the bylaws reviewed. Regional educational programs in casting, fly tying,
youth and women’s activities are in process of being developed. Support
for conservation efforts in the region are being identified. And
opportunities for getting together for shared fly fishing fun are being
planned.
To move forward, the Upper Midwest
Council is planning a general membership meeting for all FFF members and the
regional clubs on Saturday November 10, 2012. The meeting will take place
at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Steven’s Point, Wisconsin. The
Holiday Inn is located at 1001 Amber Avenue, Steven’s Point, Wisconsin 54482
(phone # 715-344-0200).
Your ideas and questions will be welcome as we plan for the future.
The Board of Directors will meet in
the morning for a planning session at 9:00 am. The general membership
meeting will take place in the afternoon starting at 1:00 pm. From
3:00pm to 5:00pm there will be a Fly Tying Tie In and a Casting
Rendezvous. Tables will be set up for a Tie In so bring your fly
vices and favorite fly tying pattern. The Casting Rendezvous will allow
members to improve their casting from Certified and Master Casting Instructors
so bring your rod and reel. There is no cost to participate.
