South African Trout

Doug and I were lucky enough to go back to South Africa this year and I managed to do one morning of fly fishing in the Mpumalanga area, hauling in this wonderful catch from a pond that was fed by a mountain stream on a ranch where we stayed. We just returned home from 10 days out there, a mix of hunting, touring, animal viewing in Krueger Park, getting a look at Blyde Canyon, the 3rd largest canyon in the world, etc. In Krueger we saw an amazing site of a leopard with a fresh Impala kill that it just dragged up into a large tree. We also saw at dusk a hyena chase away a pack of wild dogs that had taken down a bushbuck (small antelope), and, right by our vehicle, the hyena dragged the kill and started wolfing it down. We were so close we heard it crushing bones. Needless to say, you don't walk around in Krueger National Park! Anyway, it was wild catching this trout on the other side of the world.
